Skillet Stew

For this delicious hearty stew, you will need to prepare the following:
  • 1lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 potatoes
  • 3 medium carrots
  • 1 can beef broth (unsalted)
  • 1 can whole kernel corn
  • 1 can sweet peas
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
Start by finely chopping the onion and frying it along with the beef in a large dutch oven pot. Add half a cup of water to prevent the beef from burning on the bottom of the pan. Cook and stir until onion is soft and the beef is no longer pink. Drain.

Peel and dice the potatoes. Peel and slice the carrots. Add both vegetables to the pot along with the can of beef broth. Bring to a boil and simmer covered for 15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

Add the drained corn and peas, butter, sugar, and soy sauce. Stir well and simmer for another 15 minutes. Add water if the broth has reduced too much. Add salt and black pepper to taste.

Serve and enjoy!

Awesome! With the weather here - 54 wind chill at the International Airport...some of this stew would be very tasty. The graders were out so now the roads are like mirrors...and slick. Glad we have a good vehical! It was colder in Vegreville Alberta -45 than it was at the North Pole today! -43
